Dosage
Adults: 250–500 mg twice daily, max 1000 mg/day.
Side effects
GI bleeding, dyspepsia, headache, fluid retention.
Contraindications
Active peptic ulcer, severe heart failure, third trimester of pregnancy, post coronary bypass.
Description
Naproxen has a longer half-life than ibuprofen, allowing twice-daily dosing. Useful for dysmenorrhea, headache, gout, and arthritis. Some evidence suggests a lower cardiovascular event signal than other NSAIDs.
